Session 3 (Sun 12.45 PM) updates

Hari Om!
Balavihar 5th Grade 12.45 pm Session

September, October and NovBalavihar 5th Grade 12:45 Sessionember News
We are very excited to have your smart, and enthusiastic children in our class and have started off very well.
We hope you are looking forward to another year of learning and having fun at Bala Vihar (BV).
Our syllabus this year is Mahabharatha by C. Rajagopalachari. We will also be covering a few chapters on the Guru parampara, from India the Sacred Land
There are some basic class rules that we would like to follow, and would encourage all parents to understand this.
Here are some guidelines that we request you to follow.
1.  Please check your bag and ensure you have the following items, before you leave your house for BV:
(a) BalaVihar Folder/Binder & handbook
(b) “My Prayers” Book
(c) Sharpened pencils, erasers, crayons, glue, scissor, markers.
(d) Mahabharatha Text Book (can be purchased at the book store)
2.  Please arrive on time. The first value we encourage you to develop is Discipline. When children arrive late, there is disruption, which creates a lack of continuity. We would be very happy to see all the children in class by 12.45 pm.
3. As you are aware we have a whatsapp group which is working out well as a means of communication.

A typical day in Balavihar starts with OM chanting 3 times, followed by meditation and chanting of slokhas.
Geeta Chanting Chapter 18 is being done for all classes together with a live stream on the television, by Swami Shantanandaji.
Now we will give you a quick synopsis of everything we have covered so far.
a) Mahabharatha Chapters 1-17 which are as under:

1. Ganapati, the Scribe 2. Devavrata 3. Bhishma's Vow 4. Amba And Bhishma 5. Devayani And Kacha 6. The Marriage Of Devayani 7. Yayati 8. Vidura 9. Kunti Devi 10. Death Of Pandu 11. Bhima 12. Karna 13. Drona 14. The Wax Palace 15. The Escape Of The Pandavas 16. The Slaying Of Bakasura 17. Draupadi's Swayamvaram
b) Slokha - Ganesha Pancharatnam, Gajananam Bhoota , Shuklam Bharadaram and Guru Stotram
c) Bhajan- Sri Jagadeeshwara Arati and Sri Chinmaya Arati
We will be having our annual class play in April and are excited to start making plans for that soon.

We are looking forward to meeting all the parents on December 3, 2017.
Please do not hesitate to contact us at any time for any questions or concerns you may have. We want to make your child's experience with us as enjoyable and meaningful as possible, and your cooperation and support is essential for that.
Thank you and Hari Om,
Laxmi and Priya
